Four songs by four singers depicting four different moods. Urmila Pateriya from Michigan pays tribute to Vani Jayaram through Bole Re Papihara while Haseeb Khateeb reenacts that romantic moment from the movie Manzil through his rendition of the song Rim Jhim Gire Sawaan. A long time supporter of Awaaz Anjane, Anurag Dwivedi from Hyderabad then tries out a really tough song – Bheegi Bheegi Si from Gangster, made famous by the Bangladeshi rock star James. While Awaaz Anjane provides a platform to performers who haven’t embraced music as their primary vocation, this Indian music Podcast also brings to you professionals. Hear Zee Alfa SaReGaMa winner Ojas Mehta from Gujarat sing the stellar Kishore Kumar song Jeevan Se Bhari. We will soon have him in a fuller episode while you wait to hear JoJo in next week’s show. Till then enjoy the festivities of Navratri.

Parminder SinghA doctor, photographer and a singer too! Parminder Singh from Ohio, USA finds time to do them all. In this episode, he shares how his heavy interest in arts always balanced his vocation of being a physician - from Patiala in India to the small town of Conneaut, where he lives with his family. To manage so many interests, “you just have to be a bit crazy”, he humbly confesses. After wielding the lens, guitar and keyboard, when his wife encouraged him to exercise his vocal talents, Parminder decided to go the entire way - with a recording studio at home and then releasing his first album “O Meri Mehbooba” in India in 2005. TV success followed and now he is on the verge of releasing his second album “Lamhe”. Listen to him explaining the process of making a private album and how marketing takes a big role with music videos et al. Listen to the song snippets that even his patients, hardly familiar with hindi music, now enjoy. And for the photo lovers, don’t forget to check out his book of stunning images.

In this episode we introduce a wonder kid from Delhi, India. Young Aekavira is only four years old, but her new music album, privately produced only last month, has created quite an impression on most listeners. The album of rhymes in Hindi and English is for her little brother, the articulate Aekavira says. But equally interested have been the media and ad model scouts. In the first exclusive Internet interview, Aekavira’s parents, Alka and Bharat Bhardwaj share with Awaaz Anjane listeners how they spotted her talents and the making of this album with music by her teacher Idrees Sheikh. Aekavira could well be the Indian version of Romanian three-year old sensation Cleopatra Stratan (see video) – reportedly a Guinness World Record contender. In this episode hear Aekavira sing a hindi film song and talk about her other interests. Like a pro she says, she enjoyed the recording studio - especially the dholaks and the guitars and the video here (courtesy Bharat Bhardwaj) certainly shows a confident singer in front of the mic. Our best wishes to this young talent.
