This week we travel to Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, to listen to the voice of Divya. With a varied interest in fine arts and a solid foundation in Carnatic and Hindustani music, Divya has appeared on numerous stage and TV programs. Her youthful voice handles Lata and Asha numbers with equal aplomb. Archana then rounds up the Asha-Lata episode singing that mesmerizing song from Rudaali set to tune by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Happy Listening!

Awaaz Anjane introduces another wonderful voice, Dr. Dhiren Buch from Columbus, Georgia. An anesthesiologist by profession, Dhiren talks to us about his passion for hindi music and sings a couple of wonderful songs of his idols Hemant Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Both in his musical passion and duets, he is ably supported by his wife Jalpa. The couple treat us to an all time favorite duet. Gautam and Nikhil then present their wonderful collaboration with Gautam’s voice and Nikhil’s lyrics and composition in a lilting guitar backing.

What happens when traditional record labels can not satisfy the need of a music lover? If you are Subhashish Chatterjee, you would form a music company and set out to provide Indian Musical content at par with any International standard and format. In this episode we talk to him about his company Basss Music (RM) from Kolkata, India and their work with multichannel audio, specifically DTS (Digital Theater Systems) audio. Listen to some samples from their titles and hear about their plans of releasing the archived contents of All India Radio, Doordarshan and other major Indian labels. Basss’ partner in North America is Allegro Corporation and Forrest Faubion, Allegro’s Marketing and Distribution Coordinator tells us how this alliance came about. For those of you more technologically inclined, read the PodioIndia blog for some DTS details and listen to the full version of the interview with Subhashish Chatterjee.
