From film songs onto semi-classical and ghazals through the melodious voice of Ratna from Calcutta. Trained in Hindustani Classical, semi-classical, ghazals and folk songs, Ratna mesmerizes us with a couple of beautiful songs including the Ghalib masterpiece immortalized by Iqbal Bano and the classic Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan song Piya Re. She is also into fusion music, trying to blend thumri and folk songs through the fusion band Karma. The mood for this Ghazal episode inspired us as well to try one of our favorite Jagjit-Chitra numbers.
